In the below video at marker 10:40, Mark Thierman is interviewed regarding the Amazon case on HuffPost Live, the Huffington Post video channel. Thierman exquisitely details the argument in the case, saying to host, Alyona Minkowski, that Amazon warehouse workers should be paid for the time spent waiting in security lines because they are under the direction of their employer to do so, and thus selling their time as an hourly employee. Employees punching-out before getting in security lines is mostly an arbitrary company whistle that doesn’t necessarily mean that the workers’ job is done, even if waiting in line isn’t in the job description.
